History

The Boulder Youth Symphony was founded in the fall of 1984. In 1998, the Junior Youth Symphony, currently the Chaconne Orchestra, was added to reach younger musicians interested in the orchestral experience. The Chamber Orchestra was created in January 2002, to provide a challenging musical opportunity for young musicians who fall between the Chaconne and Symphony orchestras. The Chaconne and Chamber orchestras provide an ideal transition into the Symphony Orchestra. The Wind Ensemble was added in 2008 and is led by conductor Erik Johnson.
